Recently, Smarter Energy (600869) disclosed its 2016 annual report, which shows that the company achieved RMB 12.243 billion of operating income in 2016, an increase of 4.54% over the same period last year. Deducting non-recurring gains and losses as a listed company, its net profit amounted to RMB 270 million, a slight increase year on year.
The company's business covers energy project planning and design, product manufacturing, engineering implementation, operation and maintenance monitoring, energy efficiency management, total package service, energy system construction and service life cycle. It has formed four business segments involving intelligent power products, new energy vehicles, power systems and storage equipment, clean/ new energy system, and Internet electrician and electrical platform, and has been actively working on intelligent energy system and ecological service system with "Internet +" as the focus. According to the annual report, in 2016, new energy vehicle power system and energy storage equipment, clean/ new energy system, and intelligent equipment accounted for more than 60% of the company’s total business profits. Its Internet electrician and electrical platform Maimaibao acquired RMB 4.868 billion of business income, up by 48.68%. In the past three years, the company's net profit compound growth rate was 24.32%, realizing continuously optimized income structure and sustained improvement in profitability.
In terms of intelligent power products, the company seized the historical opportunity of energy revolution in the "13th Five-Year Plan" and created the country's largest intelligent wire and cable manufacturing base as well as intelligent power equipment manufacturing base. The report shows that Smarter Energy is the only enterprise in cable industry that won national quality award. Besides, the company is the leader of intelligent grid fault monitoring technologies and is committed to the R&D and manufacturing of intelligent power distribution network and intelligent power transmission network products. It also conducted extensive cooperation with manufacturers specialized in advanced wireless bridge, wireless temperature measurement, dynamic voltage recovery, unmanned aerial vehicles, transmission line monitoring and other fields in Israel, the United States, Germany, France and other countries. The LTU (an automation remote distribution line terminal) independently developed by Smarter Energy is the first one of its kind in China.
As for the field of new energy vehicle power system and energy storage equipment, the annual report shows that the company was the first in China and the third one in the world that manufacturers ternary 18650 lithium-ion battery (used by Tesla). Smarter Energy is also a high-tech enterprise in Jiangxi Province and one of the key enterprises of Jiangxi provincial top ten strategic emerging industries. In 2016, the company's shareholders' meeting adopted a high energy density power storage lithium battery R&D and industrial construction project, with a total investment of RMB 3.889 billion and 3GWh of annual output. In 2017, the company plans to promote the construction of Yixing Intelligent Energy Industrial Park and 6GWh high-performance power and energy storage lithium battery project in Jiangsu Province, and continue to consolidate and expand its industrial advantages in national strategic emerging industry - new energy vehicle power battery field.
According to the annual report, Smarter Energy is the leader in private clean energy systems and intelligent grid engineering design, construction, investment and consultation. It has gradually formed a system integration platform covering new energy power plant development, construction, operation, maintenance and trade. In 2016, the company's revenue in clean energy systems increased by 107.22% over the same period last year. At the same time, in the field of Internet electrician and electrical platform, the company fully upgraded electrician and electrical vertical e-commerce platform and material trading platform, established materials trading center, and provided customers with the best continuous spot transaction, settlement and financing services by introducing outstanding teams. Its Mainaibao formed four product lines involving "wire mall, cable, fitting accessories, electrician and electrical products" and connected upstream and downstream customers through "information + transaction + service + finance" by integrating PC terminal, mobile APP and H5 in depth.
As Smarter Energy sees it, in the future, with the progress of science and technology as well as the development of Internet and internet of things, the production, transmission and consumption patterns of energy experience qualitative changes.
